MISSION STATEMENT:

At Art-First Children's Center, it is our goal to provide the most comprehensive and holistic program for your preschool child.  We believe that all children are talented individuals who should be nurtured and guided as they learn through discovery, challenge and play.

Our method:

    Every child at A.F.C.C. is valued as their own person and treated with care and respect at all times.  Children are encouraged to ask questions and explore their imaginations in order to form problem solving skills.  At the same time, boundaries and routine are established so that children begin to develop the skills of discipline and self control.

    Art and music are not extra-curricular activities - they are how children learn!  Play and creativity are integrated into each lesson, along with real-life practical skills.   Science and math concepts are introduced through gardening and healthy-cooking activities.  Language skills are practiced by singing, story-telling and dramatic play.  Music, movement and fine art are introduced as a method of developing self-expression and confidence.

    Art-First Children's Center is a place where children learn about the 'artist' within themselves, make friends, prepare for Kindergarten, and have fun doing all of these things!

About the director:

My name is Ms. Lynnae and I have been working with children off and on, for over 20 years.  I have been a live-in nanny, preschool teacher, and site-supervisor of an after school program.  I have also been a touring and recording musician and songwriter for 15 years.  In college, I studied Theater arts, Music and Child Development.  I have always loved working with children as much as I love playing music, and finally decided to create a program which could benefit from my combined experiences. 

I continually marvel at how naturally children understand art and how they view the world with open minds and open hearts.  I believe that young children thrive in a creative environment, and that art and music can open the doors to endless possibilities for their development.
